Racial Justice Circles
Youth United Against Racism
Our society is facing a deep racial reckoning. Particular events of anti-Black violence, white supremacy, police brutality, and racism are supported by a culture of racism pervasive in our communities and throughout the United States. Kids4Peace Boston has been no stranger to issues of racial justice, and the youth in our community have collectively called us to gather together and take action in response to issues of racial injustice and inequity.
Racial Justice Circles investigate the structural and historic systems that foster the culture of racism we see manifest in the U.S. context today. With that knowledge, youth are equipped to narrow their scope toward their own communities, identifying a particular need where their voices can help make the world more just. As a group, they either work to advocate and lobby their legislators, or develop and implement a service project, making a tangible impact towards creating a more racially just society.
Beginning from their very first meeting, young people build relationships together across differences within the K4PB community at large and within their small group. These interpersonal skills serve them well as they go on to organize, advocate, and serve within the Boston community. Collegiate mentors facilitate our small groups, joining us from MIT Addir Fellows and Boston College’s PULSE Program for Service Learning.
